For the first day in Kyoto, we begun with Nishiki market, the paradise for food lovers.
Many stands with food, tea, spices, tsukemono (japanese pickles)... It looked delicious but hard to eat seafood skevers at 10 am đ
We followed our way to Gion quartier, walking in Shijo street, one of the 3 important streets in Gion.
There we saw many tourists wearing kimonos. Kimonos were beautiful, I really felt in an old period of Japan but when they begun to talk (loudly) in chinese, I came back to reality đ
For lunch, we stopped at a noodle restaurant specialized in udon and soba.
Only local people were eating, thatâs a good reference!
Next: visit of Chion-In temple with its 2 gardens, Yusaka temple and its pagoda (made in wood) which is 46 meters height.
From this place of the pagoda, Kyoto Tower can be see, I hope to have enough time to go up there đ
The end of day has come and advised by a French food TV show « TrĂšs TrĂšs TrĂšs bon », we looked for SakĂ© Cafe Tokyo and found it (without being tricked by G.maps for once đ) but was unfortunately closed đ
Never mind Kyoto has a lot of Saké Bar, just be lucky to find the right one!
Bob found one just at 5 min by walk and it turned out to be an excellent adress! We tried 2 different SakĂ© and several appetizers (as tapas): smasched potatoes with smocked radish, rice balls, grilled salmon, tofus and pizza. Everything was perfect đ đ
